Start where your pool actually is

Most people arrive with one of four situations. Pick the one that matches.

The other half of the work

Renovation and repair, shell and deck

Equipment repair, by the part that failed

When the pool needs more than a service

Licensed for the work that follows

We hold California contractor licence #970493, classifications C-53 and C-61/D-35 — so the work that starts where maintenance stops does not need a second company.

The pool is losing water somewhere between the shell, the plumbing and the pad. We find which before anyone breaks concrete: leak detection.

Rough underfoot, stains that no longer wash out, exposed aggregate — when an acid wash stops working, the honest answer is a new surface: resurfacing and replastering.

What you are buying

The checklist we follow on every visit

Ours in full, so you can hold us to it — and ask anyone else for theirs.

  • Chemical check. pH, alkalinity, free and total chlorine, TDS, cyanuric acid, phosphate, calcium hardness and salt.
  • Net and vacuum. Skimmer for the surface, vacuum for everything that has already sunk.
  • Brush tile and walls. Tile checked for calcium build-up; plaster, fiberglass and vinyl brushed.
  • Empty every basket. Skimmer, pump and leaf canister. A full basket is a pump fighting resistance.
  • Inspect all equipment. Automation, pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, lights, auto-fills and valves.
  • Adjust pumps and clocks. Seasonal run times and daylight saving, so the pool circulates at the right hours.

Came home from a two-week vacation and our pool was basically green. The previous company told us we needed to drain it, which sounded crazy. Pool Care LA came out, tested everything, explained what was happening and started the cleanup. Took a little time but now the water looks better than it has in years.Read in full

We had another pool company for almost five years and slowly the service got worse. They would say they came but the pool was always dirty. Jake from Pool Care LA has been completely different. He actually checks the equipment and lets us know if something needs attention.Read in full

Our pump stopped working on a Friday afternoon and we were worried because we had family coming over that weekend. Robert came out, found the problem and got everything running again. Honest guy, and he explained everything before doing the repair.Read in full

I don't usually leave reviews but these guys deserve it. My pool was a mess and I was tired of trying to fix the chemicals myself. They came out and took care of everything. Water is clear now and I don't have to worry anymore.Read in full

Bought a house in Beverly Hills with an older pool and honestly had no idea how to maintain it. The equipment was old and everything was confusing. They walked me through what needed to be done first and what could wait. No pressure. That was appreciated.Read in full

We thought we needed a completely new pool system. Turns out it was just a few issues with the pump and filter. They saved us a lot of money by fixing what actually needed fixing.

Six things people ask us twice

Pools and spas

The same weekly plan covers both.

Pre-party cleanings

One to two visits a week

All year — Los Angeles pools do not get a closed season.

Members get 20% off

On individual services, plus priority scheduling when something breaks.

No one-time routine cleans

A pool that has got away needs a recovery first, not a big clean.

Chemicals included

No separate monthly invoice for chlorine and acid.

Questions people ask before they call

What areas does Pool Care LA serve?

The Foothill communities and the Los Angeles neighborhoods around them — 35 in all, from Altadena and Pasadena across to Studio City, Encino and West Hollywood. The full list is on the service areas page.

How do you choose a pool service company?

Three checks, and none of them is the website. Ask for the licence number and look it up yourself on the CSLB site — ours is #970493, and it takes a minute. Ask for a customer on your own street rather than a testimonial you cannot verify. And ask what actually happens on a visit: a full test panel, or a dip strip and a chlorine tab. The third one is where most of the difference lives. More on that on our references page.

Is a pool service worth it, or can I do it myself?

Plenty of people do it themselves and do it well. It costs roughly an hour a week, a test kit you learn to read, and the discipline to keep going in February when nobody is swimming. What a service buys is the discipline and the equipment eye: most of what goes wrong on a pool is caught on the pad months before it stops working, and that is the part a weekly visitor notices and an owner does not. At $159 a month with chemicals included, the arithmetic is closer than people expect once you price chlorine and acid yourself.

How often should a pool be serviced in Los Angeles?

Weekly, all year. Los Angeles pools do not get a closed season, and summer chlorine demand is high enough that a fortnight is long enough for algae to establish. Pools under heavy tree cover do better on two visits a week.

Do you offer one-time services, or only weekly maintenance?

Both, but not one-time routine cleanings. Alongside weekly maintenance we offer Green to Clean, acid wash, equipment repair and new plaster start-up. Describe the pool on the quote form and we will say which it needs.

What is included in the Maintenance Membership?

Weekly service — chemistry checked and adjusted, debris removed, surfaces brushed, baskets emptied, equipment inspected — plus 20% off individual services and priority scheduling.

Can you help if I do not know which service I need?

Yes, and it is the most common way people start. The quote form asks about the pool's size, condition and equipment so we can recommend the right next step rather than selling the biggest one.

How do I get a quote?

Fill in the quote form or call. We ask about the pool, the service you are after and your timeline, then come back with a number. There is no charge for the consultation.
